As a child I played this piece on the recorder and it always made me smile. I am happy to add it to the Flute Colors collection. The harmonics in the second part of the piece are meant to open up your sound while increasing sustain. You can omit the harmonics when you play this piece in a concert.

Als kind speelde ik dit stuk op de blokfluit en ik werd er altijd heel vrolijk van. Ik ben blij om het toe te voegen aan de Flute Colors collectie. De harmonics in het tweede deel van het stuk zijn bedoeld om je klank te openen en tegelijkertijd de ademsteun te vergroten. Je kunt de harmonics weglaten als je dit stuk speelt tijdens een concert.

The C# is a tricky note on the flute. Often the intonation is much too high and the color is completely different. Practicing C# with harmonics is a useful way to work on intonation and color. In this arrangement, the C# sometimes should be played as harmonic and sometimes with normal fingering. Compare both versions and try to get the C# intonation with regular fingers the same as the one played as a harmonic.

De Cis is een lastige noot op de fluit. Vaak is de intonatie veel te hoog en is de kleur totaal anders. Het oefenen van de Cis met harmonics is een effectieve manier om aan intonatie en kleur te werken. In dit arrangement moet de Cis soms als harmonic en soms met normale greep worden gespeeld. Vergelijk beide versies en probeer de intonatie van de Cis met de gewone greep hetzelfde te krijgen als Cis die als harmonic wordt gespeeld.

I didn’t add actual multiphonics, but in this arrangement you can practice the steps to play multiphonics. And who knows, maybe the multiphonic just appears.

Als kind had ik pianoles. Ik heb dit stuk keer op keer gespeeld. Ik vond het geweldig. Nu kunnen we dit stuk spelen en multiphonics oefenen. Ik heb geen echte multiphonic toegevoegd, maar in dit arrangement kun je de stappen oefenen om multiphonics te spelen. En wie weet, misschien ontstaat de multiphonic gewoon.
