Playing pizzicato alternating with traditional sound is good for coordination. You can add an extra challenge by playing the duet. Try to play the pizzicato notes at the same time. Because of the speed of the piece, tongue pizzicato is recommended.

Remember that struggling is good. I find it works best if you practice this version alongside the original version.

Multiphonics based on harmonics are extra special. They sound beautiful without tension in the intervals. When you play very softly and relaxed they work best. Use vowels to achieve the goal of playing the notes together, don’t be tempted to blow more for the higher note.

Sometimes I discover a composer unknown to me who is quite interesting. This was the case with Jean-Daniel Braune. I found one of his pieces. And when I looked on YouTube, I found out that he is quite famous… Well, you can’t know everything. This Allemanda from one of his solo pieces is great for experiencing the benefits of practising harmonics. A real puzzle in the beginning!

The melody of this round is easy and therefore perfect for practicing singing and playing. In the first variation you can sing a bass line and in the second variation you can sing and play the melody as a round. Ideal for practising coordination and intonation. It looks difficult, but once you get the hang of it, it’s fun!

This warm-up focuses entirely on wind sounds. An intense training for your embouchure. I have combined various exercises, from traditional sound to wind sound and vice versa, and alternating between windsound and traditional sound. A real challenge! Listen carefully to your body and stop practicing if your muscles get too tired.
