To match the intonation of the flute and the piano, the flutist must bend the notes a half tone lower. You can use the three methods of tone bending for this: air pressure, head, and arms. This is an exercise for flexibility and an intonation exercise.

Tulou was an important flutist in his time. He wrote a flute method for his students that provided a solid foundation. We now use one of the duets from this method to practice singing and playing. It’s a beautiful challenge that Tulou probably hadn’t even thought of himself.

The most famous round has to be Pachelbel’s round. The beginning of the piece is already beautiful and perfect for us to practice whistle tones. Take your time and use the position of the tongue to make the sound more stable. To find the correct position of the tongue, whistle without a flute (even if you’re not able to do that).

De bekendste canon moet wel de canon van Pachelbel zijn. Het begin van het stuk is al mooi en perfect voor ons om whistle tones te oefenen.
