256 Vivaldi – Largo from ‘Winter’

This is such a beautiful tune and it’s perfect to use as a warm up exercise. But not in this case. The bibligliando trills copy the effect of a trill. The pizzicato imitates the pizzicato playing on the violin. And the wind sounds make everything melt together.

238 Blavet – Adagio from ‘La Lumagne’

Ornamentation is very important in Baroque music. At that time, color trills were already being used to enrich the music. It’s fun to experiment a bit with that concept. You can play this piece with piano or play the bass line on a bass flute.

 219 Montéclair – Badines

During the Baroque period, French musicians loved ornamentations. They would certainly have appreciated this arrangement with bisbigliandi. In fact, there is a chance that they used to use this type of color trills back in the day.

 199 Away in a Manger

Bisbigliandi, or color trills are quite interesting. It is fascinating to play with differences in timbre. In this arrangement, the 2nd and 3rd parts color this piece with bisbigliandi, accompanying the melody and supported by the fourth part, which you can also play on a bass flute.

 171 Foster – Beautiful Dreamer

Stephen C. Foster wrote numerous pieces and songs. All in a beautiful, simple style. This song is an example. I added some bisbigliando trills. It’s fun to play with timbre a bit and working with different fingerings gives you more flexibility.

 160 Rameau – Tambourin

Small trills are needed in this piece. In this arrangement, the trills are replaced by bisbigliando trills. Nice colorful trills in one tone. When playing in a flute ensemble, the bass (alto) part must be played and sung to get the characteristic fifths in the bass.
