For my online workshops, I needed a song to practice some of the more challenging techniques such as whistle tones and circular breathing. This exercise is designed to experiment with these techniques without pressure. So don’t focus too much on the results, but explore the possibilities.

The trio of this German dance is also called ‘The sleigh ride’. Imagine you are skating on the ice. Snow all around you. Since it is not really possible to imitate bells on the flute, I used wind sounds and flutter tongue to make the trio of this dance extra special.
Practicing long notes is a good way to warm up. Adding flutter tongue to the note improves your support. This song is also perfect for practicing this multiphonic. What a wonderful feeling when you let those two notes sound at the same time.
