186 Clarke – Prince of Denmark March

There was already quite a bit of ornamentation in the piece, but there was still room for more! The tongue stops in the piece make the piece a bit more humorous. The alternation between the traditional notes and the tongue stops is a fun challenge.

Er zat al aardig wat versiering in het stuk, maar er was nog ruimte voor meer! De tongue stops in het stuk maken het stuk humoristischer. De afwisseling tussen de traditionele noten en de tongue stops is een leuke uitdaging.

 183 Popp – Study a minor

Even the simplest study can be challenging when adding extended techniques. I have added two variations to his study: one with key clicks or pizzicato and one with tongue stops. Key clicks are useful for practicing precise finger movement, and pizzicato and tongue stops are useful for coordination between your fingers, tongue, and abdomen.

172 Fun with ‘Better When I’m Dancing’

Unfortunately I can’t dance. This song makes me feel like I can. It’s hard to sit still and just play this exercise. I suggest you don’t fight it and go with the flow. The key clicks in this exercise help you improve the finger movement, the wind sounds make the embouchure flexible and to activate the abdomen I added tongue stops to the exercise.

 161 Carol of the Bells

The sound of a bell is strong at the beginning of the note and then soft immediately. That reminded me of tongue stops, so I made this Carol of the Bells a bit like Carol of the Tongsstops.

144 Fun with ‘Accidentally in Love’

This catchy song was used in one of the Shrek movies and became very famous. Now we can use it to practice one of the most challenging things while learning circular breathing: inflating and deflating the cheeks while playing. Also a nice exercise if you are not interested in learning circular breathing.

138 Fun with ‘I Feel Good’

Keep the spirits up with this happy song. I feel good! The famous motive can be played easily with tone bending. The funny sound of the tongue stops will add even more fun to it. A little rest with the key clicks and the harmonics help you to increase the support. You will feel good after playing this warming up exercise.

 130 Fun with ‘Geronimo’

Another energetic exercise to start your studies well. The tone bending in this piece challenges you to work on intonation. The pizzicato and tongue stops make your tongue stronger and increases the co-ordination between tongue, fingers and abdomen. And the harmonics will help you get a better sound.
