 142 Andersen – Study No. 16 – Op. 37

Studies are designed to teach something. You can learn even more by adding extended techniques. Fluttertongue stimulates support to improve your sound and key clicks and pizzicato help you make more precise finger movements in combination with support.

Difficult

 139 Veloce – Fürstenau

A challenge for those who are learning circular breathing. If you can not do it yet please watch the videos on the flute colors website and don’t give up. You can start with the added exercise to get familiar with circular breathing in all registers. And then veloce!

 118 Carnival de Venice

Through history many composers used this song to make variations. Now we have variations containing extended techniques! So find yourself a piano player and get started.

Difficult

 115 Adagio

Every bow needs a bit of decrescendo. The best way to practise this is by playing wind sounds. By moving your lower lip forward you gradually go from regular sound to wind sound. An excellent workout for practising decrescendo.

Medium/Difficult

 106 Anitra’s Dance

A Flute Colors variation on the very famous piece by Edvard Grieg. If you don’t have an alto and bass flute you can also play the version with flute and piano. Try to make the sound of the pizzicato very ‘dry’ and very precise together and you will sound like a string quartet playing pizzicato.

 084 Corelli – Allemande

I really like playing music by Corelli. It is often playful and it makes me happy. Now you can practice your flutter tongue, key clicks and pizzicato while playing this nice duet for two flutes or flute and bass flute.

 067 Delibes – Pizzicati

This is the first arrangement for flute choir the Flute Colors way! It is amazing what happens when you hear a complete flute choir play pizzicato on the flute. A very nice effect and very useful to practise the co-ordination of the tongue and abdomen. You can also play the first flute part as a solo if you don’t have a flute choir to perform this piece with.

Easy/Medium

 066 He’s/She’s a jolly good fellow

Having fun with this famous birthday song the Flute Colors way. Playing this piece with key clicks can help you develop a very precise finger movement and this piece is very useful to train the ring finger of your left hand.
